Wow wow wow a lot happens in this book, and not nearly enough of it features Eric, but even less of it features that rat fink Bill. thank goodness for that!
This book focuses on the two-natured as opposed to the vamps. The shifters and weres find themselves the targets of a sniper. When Sam is shot outside of the bar he ends up having to ask Sookie to ask Eric to borrow a bartender until he gets back on his feet.
Sookie ends up letting this on loan pirate vamp sleep in her hidey hole in her house. Its a good thing she does, because he is there to help her when a fellowship of the sun member sets fire to her house, with her in it! Things are not always as they seem though, and Sookie soon realizes this.
Now Sookie is essentially homeless, and has everyone she's ever felt romantically inclined towards, asking her to move in with them. (Except Eric, she surely would have picked Eric had he offered, how could anyone resist?)
To add to all of this, the Packmaster has kicked the bucket, and the Weres need to elect someone new to take his place. Poor Sookie finds herself being used as a pawn in this less than democratic election process.
