First Look- Nanny Returns

Nan is back! We all remember our first foray into chick lit right? One of my first was The Nanny Diaries, or at least one of my favorites. Couldn't have been one of my first, since it was published when I was 18. But this is how memorable it was! An absolute treasure that I read several times before I watched the movie which wasn't quite what I envisioned but enjoyed nonetheless. At any rate, Nanny Returns was a very happy shock when I saw it up for grabs at the Atria Galley Grab.

Twelve years after being unceremoniously dropped from Grayer X's life, Nan is married to Harvard Hottie (now known as Ryan) and has a business as a consultant (with only one client), a house in Queens (with a staircase that keeps collapsing), and a husband with a baby wish. With Nan's background with Grayer, you'd think she'd be eager to start a family now that she and Ryan are back in the States, but something's holding her back.

And then, just as everything seems to be falling into place, everything falls apart. Ryan needs to go back overseas to handle a crisis, an angry teen Grayer shows up, demanding to know why he was abandoned but not wanting any answers. hat he wants is for Nan to help him land a spot at an exclusive boarding school for his seven year old brother Stilton. Then, after trying to help, and somehow make things right with Grayer all hell breaks loose. Now she's running all over town trying to find Mr. and Mrs. X with the boys underfoot.

I adored the sequel and wish the movie could have ended differently so a sequel could be done there too. I bought the last two books by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Krauss, Citizen Girl and Dedication, but have yet to read either one. After reading this, I'm going to go dig those off my shelves tear through them. Their writing style is very distinctive and it flows well. I adored this book and will definitely revisit it as well! Don't miss this book if you liked The Nanny Diaries!
