Heigl goes dark.. Stephanie Plum?

Everyone has an opinion about Heigl playing Stephanie Plum in the One for the Money movie. I plan to just see where it goes. I have wanted this movie for SO long that I don't want to ruin my experience by getting all bent out of shape over the casting decisions.

Heigl showed up at an event with much darker locks, making me wonder if this is prep for her role as Stephanie Plum. The color looks good on her and I cannot wait to see where this goes!

On the positive side, Heigl was funny in Knocked Up in embarrassing situations, which we all know Stephanie is in a lot of the time. I think she could take on the humor aspect of One for the Money well. She does indignant well, and I can't wait to see her sparring with Morelli, and trying to keep up with Ranger. I think the dark hair looks good on her, I really do. The book was written in the 90's, they will have to update the look for sure in the movie. If they give her a Jersey fro it would look ridiculous and people wouldn't be rushing to the box office. I think if they give her big curls, or even wavy hair would be more updated.

From Evanovich's website I give you the character profile for Stephanie Plum:
Name: Stephanie Plum
Height: 5'7"
Hair: Brown and curly
Eyes: Blue
Marital Status: Divorced
Favorite type of cake: Birthday
Favorite Movie: Ghostbusters
Favorite Candy bar: Snickers
Favorite Wii game: Raving Rabbids
Favorite Car: One that runs
What's worse, bad breath or bad B.O.: B.O.
Favorite X-man and favorite mutant villian: Wolverine and Magneto
Favorite frozen custard flavor: Orange and vanilla swirl
Morimoto or Bobby Flay: Bobby Flay (but maybe without so many jalapenos)
Who has the better pizza, Pino's, Dominic's or Tiny's: Pino's!
Cake, cupcake or brownie sundae: Yes
Cats, Dogs or Hamsters: Hamsters that think they're a dog

A lot of us have pictured the role for over a decade as being Sandra Bullock. Ten years ago it would have worked, but today its just not going to work! I am just glad that Reese Witherspoon is no longer planned to play the lead.

Tell me what you all think of the new look, and what you want from the book to be in the movie.

UPDATE! Ranger and Morelli have been cast!

From that link:

Katherine will star in the movie adaptation of novelist Janet Evanovich's book "One For The Money" about a young, lingerie saleswoman turned bounty hunter called Stephanie Plumb and it is this part that inspired her to make the change. Chatting backstage before collecting the award for Female Star Of The Year she told the reporter:

"She's a very specific kind of girl, and I didn't want to disappoint the fans because I know what it's like when your favorite book gets made into a movie and it's not what you had hoped," Heigl told me backstage before her dress disaster. "I wanted to go out there and show the fans I'm committed to Stephanie."

She's so committed that she actually made the hair switcheroo without even having a start date for filming. "I've been dying to do it anyway," Heigl said. "I love it. It's a nice change. I've just been so 'the blonde' for so long that it's nice to shake things up."

I wasn't totally sure about her in this role at first but the idea is definitely growing on me. I love her as an actress.

I've given you an award at http://librarygirlreads.blogspot.com/2010/03/blog-award-humane-award.html

I love Jason O' Mara although he is not what I would have pictured Morelli to look like. However, since Jason is so hot.....
