Dead in the Family

The Book
After enduring torture and the loss of loved ones during the brief but deadly Faery War, Sookie Stackhouse is hurt and she's angry. Just about the only bright spot in her life is the love she thinks she feels for vampire Eric Northman. But he's under scrutiny by the new Vampire King because of their relationship. And as the political implications of the Shifters coming out are beginning to be felt, Sookie's connection to the Shreveport pack draws her into the debate. Worst of all, though the door to Faery has been closed, there are still some Fae on the human side-and one of them is angry at Sookie. Very, very angry...

My Take
Oh, where to start...  Eric cries a lot in this book. I just cannot wrap my head around the severe change in character. I have been team Eric all along, but seeing his character change so drastically has really put me off!

Despite the synopsis, the book really has very little action. There is a lot of vampire culture and history back story which is interesting, but I kept thinking that it would be relevant in some sort of showdown or something, but it wasn't. Sookie is a hero more than once in this book, her strength has really developed and she isn't afraid to stand up for herself or those she loves. I found myself wanting one of these vicious killer vampires to save her for a change though. When I finished the book my husband asked about it and I told him that Charlaine Harris must have been suffering a bout of depression while she wrote this one.

Good review! I have heard that is a depressing book. A lot of people seem disappointed with it. I am going to get it from the library rather than purchase it as I'd originally planned. Hopefully book 11 will be better.

Not the best in the series and it took me a bit longer to read then the rest, I still enjoyed it. Soo excited about season three, even more excited about season four.
